Jazz Improvisation

Tuesdays | 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

For intermediate to advanced musicians who are proficient on their instrument. This program instructs and trains musicians in the art of jazz improvisation. Musicians learn various improvisation techniques and how to apply music theory in real time, develop soloistic capabilities, and explore the vast genre of jazz music.

Beginning Strings 

Wednesdays | 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

An introduction to violin, viola, cello, and bass. Program focuses on learning the basic techniques of the instrument and rudimentary musical knowledge. No experience required.

Adagio String Orchestra*

Wednesdays | 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

For beginning violin, viola, cello, and bass players who have 1-2 years of playing experience. This is an introductory-level program to the art of orchestral playing which centers on grade 1-2 repertoire. Musicians learn skills like following a conductor and playing together in a group.

Prelude String Orchestra*

Wednesdays | 4:00 pm - 5:00 pm

For beginning to intermediate-level violin, viola, cello, and bass players who have 2-3 years of playing experience. Musicians build on previously acquired orchestral skills with grade 2-3 repertoire, applying musicianship and technique in the context of a string ensemble.

Encore String Orchestra*

Wednesdays | 5:15 pm - 6:15 pm

For intermediate violin, viola, cello, and bass players who have 3-4 years of playing experience and at least 2 years of orchestral experience. Musicians hone their orchestral skills with grade 3-4 repertoire which incorporates more advanced rhythms, techniques, and musicality.

Wind Ensemble*

Wednesdays | 5:15 pm - 6:15 pm

For intermediate woodwind and brass players who have at least 3-4 years of playing experience. Musicians are challenged musically and technically with grade 3-4 band repertoire, exploring more advanced rhythms, time signatures, key signatures and musicality.

Concert Orchestra* 

Wednesdays | 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

For intermediate to advanced string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players. This full orchestra program is for experienced orchestral players only. Musicians are introduced to a diverse array of intermediate to advanced-level repertoire which challenges them both musically and technically. Members of this program regularly perform with Symphonic Orchestra and are eligible to participate in national and international tours.

Symphonic Orchestra* 

Wednesdays | 8:15 pm - 9:45 pm

For advanced to pre-professional string, woodwind, brass, and percussion players. This full orchestra program is for seasoned orchestral players only. Musicians play full orchestral works and advanced repertoire, including selections by the greats, film composers, and modern composers. Members of this program are eligible for solo opportunities, participation in national and international tours, and professional opportunities.

Chamber*

Designed for advanced musicians. This class aims to cultivate musicianship in the context of small chamber ensembles. Students will hone their skills in listening, blending, leadership, communication, and performance analysis and explore concepts such as color, texture, phrasing, and interpretation. This class will consist of regular sight reading practice, the preparation of larger works toward the goal of a performance, and the observation of professional chamber rehearsals

and concerts.

Flute Choir

Saturdays | 9:00 am - 10:30 am

For intermediate to advanced woodwind players who are proficient on their instrument. This program gives musicians the opportunity to develop musicianship and comradery through sight reading and exploring a large variety of chamber literature in the context of a small ensemble. Points of focus are tone, tuning, leadership, and blending.​
